PURPOSE: An operating method of a blast furnace by upper pressure according to the height of the blast furnace is provided to optimize operation of the blast furnace by upper pressure of the gas within the upper pressure according to the height of the furnace body of gas passing through the furnace wall of the blast furnace. CONSTITUTION: The operating method of a blast furnace(10) by upper pressure according to the height of the blast furnace comprises the steps of inputting into the processor through the instrumentation signal communication controller each top pressures and stock level(18a) outputted from a top pressure detecting stage connected to an instrumentation signal communication controller, sounding(17) for detecting stock level(18a) and first to eighth furnace body pressure detecting stages(21-28) for detecting pressure of the furnace body and signals of furnace body pressures of each detecting stages, and inputting signals outputted from a stock level setting part into the processor through an electrical signal controller; setting upper pressure in each of the stages by operating respective signals inputted into the processor according to the following mathematical expression 1, and outputting the set upper pressure into a monitor:£Mathematical Expression 1| UP=((41.27-SL-GL in each stages)x0.8x0.85÷10)+TP, where UP is upper pressure of furnace body, SL is stock level, GL is ground level, and TP is top pressure; and controlling charging rate of charging materials and volume of blast through tuyere(11) during ascent of the furnace body pressure so that the furnace body pressure is maintained to within the upper pressure in each of the stages.
