The container handling device, e.g. a labeling device or bottle bench (10), has an oil-lubricated drive and bearings and a lubricating oil device (4a-c) with a sensor (1) for determining the lubricating oil quality that measures the relative dielectric constant and/or the specific electrical conductivity of the lubricating oil. The sensor also has an integral oil temperature sensor. Independent claims are also included for the following: a method of determining lubricating oil quality in a container handling device and the use of a sensor for determining the viscosity and/or relative dielectric constant and the electrical conductivity and/or electrical conductivity and temperature in a lubricating oil device.
