A device (Fig. 1) for displaying greeting cards 17 or other flat articles either in the home or for sale comprises rigid retaining members 12 adjustably and frictionally mounted on a flexible cord 11, each card 17 being located between a pair of retaining members 12. The cord 11 is threaded through a pair of apertures 14 in each retainer 12 and the upper and lower edges of each card 17 are gripped between a retainer 12 and the cord 11. A pair of cords (Fig. 3, not shown) may replace the single cord 11. In a modification (Fig. 4), the retaining members comprise two layers 21, 22, the cord 11 passing through apertures 23 in the rear layer 22 only thereby being concealed behind the front layer 21.
