PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a button sewing machine which surely receives and transfers buttons in a high-speed mode. SOLUTION: The machine is provided with a mode selecting means 64 for selecting one of the modes, i.e., a standard mode for moving a holding means 12 to a thread cutting position for obtaining an optimum remaining thread length after button sewing, cutting a thread and, then, moving the holding means 12 to a position P2 and the high-speed mode for moving the holding means 12 to a receiving and transferring position P2 after button sewing and cutting the thread. The machine is also provided with a control part 60 for selectively changing-over the standard mode and the high-speed mode based on a mode signal from the mode selecting means 64 and setting operation control corresponding to the changed-over mode.
