METHOD FOR PREDICTING THE TOLERANCE TO NITRATES

FIELD: medicine, cardiology. SUBSTANCE: before beginning the treatment with nitrates, one should determine an initial state of venous tonicity and additional venous volume. It is carried out an acute pharmacological sample with nitroglycerin. During 7 min one should register the alteration of venous tonicity and additional venous volume. Then, after a 2-wk-long treatment with nitrates, one should conduct pharmacological sample with nitroglycerin and in case of no decrease in venous tonicity and no increase of additional venous volume after the sample it is possible to diagnose the development of tolerance to nitrates.
