PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device of high S/N ratio capable of electronic shutter operation, in other words, the operation in which the timing for starting/finishing of accumulation for all pixels is identical, with no reset noise. SOLUTION: The image pickup device comprises a plurality of pixels provided each with a photoelectric conversion part for photoelectric conversion, a semiconductor region to which the signal from the photoelectric conversion part is transferred, an amplifying means which amplifies the signal of the semiconductor region for outputting, a transfer means which transfers the signal of the photoelectric conversion part to the amplifying means, and a resetting means which resets the semiconductor region. The semiconductor region is depleted by performing the resetting means.
