PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traffic accident sound detecting device by which a detected and recorded accident sound is efficiently used in response to a situation and a purpose, recorded detection signals are independently reproduced and the accident sound is decided with a sufficient time. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a traffic sound detecting means 10-0 arranged at a position for detecting the traffic sound, a first accident detecting means 11-1 provided with relatively low selection reference for detecting the accident sound from the detected traffic sound, a first recording and reproducing means 12-1 for recording and reproducing the accident sound detection result of the first accident sound detect a second accident sound detecting means 1P2 provided with relatively high selection reference for detecting the accident sound from the reproducing signal of the first recording and reproducing means and a reproduction control means 14 for receiving an accident sound discrimination completing signal from the second accident sound detecting means and permitting the first recording and reproducing means to reproduce a succeeding signal.
