PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface acoustic wave device that can reduce an insertion loss in a pass band and obtain a narrow band characteristic. SOLUTION: The surface acoustic wave device comprises a piezoelectric substrate, interdigital transducers each having at least one drive electrode to drive a surface acoustic wave, and reflectors each placed at both sides of the interdigital transducers, and the reflector comprises an open electrode block comprising a plurality of electrode fingers electrically independently of each other and a short-circuit electrode block comprising a plurality of electrode fingers at both the ends of which are electrically short-circuited in common.
