<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound unit capable of reducing power consumption even while portable equipment such as a personal computer is operating. SOLUTION: When the operating state of a sound device SD is turned to 'stand-by', a device driver measures an elapsed time following the point of time. After the lapse of a time set by a user or more, a power saving mode is set. When 'partial saving' is set by the user, data '1001' are written in a register 10, and a power is supplied to a clock generating circuit 1 and a mixer 8, and any power is not supplied to the other circuits. Also, when 'normal saving' is set, data '1000' are written in the register 10, and a power is supplied only to the clock generating circuit 1. When 'large saving' is set, data '0000' are written, and the power sources of all the circuits are turned off.</p> |
