PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video data reproducing method having editing function by which reproducing based on the program chain information of an arbitrary play list can be made smooth. SOLUTION: The video data reproducing method for preparing the program chain information of the arbitrary play list by defining a plurality of title units containing program titles and play list titles and chapter units smaller than these title units and copying information on the array order of the title units or chapter units, is provided with first steps (S11-S13) for evaluating continuity in the information of mutually adjacent array orders in each of information of array orders contained in the program chain information of a play list as an editing object and a second step (S14) for coupling a plurality of information of array orders of which the continuity is confirmed in the first steps, into one.
