PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing member and a sealing structure of a capacitor in which sealing strength can be enhanced through a simple structure. SOLUTION: The sealing member and sealing structure of a capacitor employing an elliptical tubular case (2) having a flat part (A) and a curved part (B) comprises a basic sealing body (12) copying the opening shape of the case, a sealing member (14) being fixed at least to the circumferential edge side of the basic sealing body, and means (reinforcing member 24) provided in the sealing member in order to reinforce the flat part side. Since mechanical strength is enhanced on the flat part side of the sealing member by the reinforcing means, deformation of the case due to caulking can be suppressed and sealing strength is enhanced on the flat part side.
