PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voice message service in a wireless communication system. SOLUTION: In order to retrieve voice messages deposited into a voice mailbox, a subscriber accesses a voice message system 204 through a wireless device 201. When a subscriber wishes to return a call to a caller, the call is established, through a serving mobile switching center 202 to a directory number 208 of the caller in concern with a service control point 205 and an intelligent peripheral device 206. The subscriber can return to the voice message system so that the subscriber can resume the voice mail session. The subscriber ends the call or optionally enters a feature rebound code. The intelligent peripheral device detects an associated call event and initiates connection between the subscriber and the voice mail system. The intelligent peripheral device notices the service control point, causing the service control point to instruct the serving mobile switching center to re-establish the connection between the subscriber and the voice mail system.
