The fixing element for a metal roof has an angled head section (20) fitting over a standing seam (16) of a first flashing plate (10), and a fastening plate connected to the head section and fastened to the wood substructure (14). A cover plate extends parallel to the plane of the metal roof and is installed between the fastening elements (28) which attach the fastening plate to the wood substructure and a second flashing plate (12). The cover plate is especially connected to the fastening plate by a detachable method.
