<p>To treat an organic material at a high solid concentration and achieve a high decomposition ratio of the organic material at a low cost, it is intended to provide a method and an apparatus for treating an organic material involving the following steps: a solubilization step wherein solid organic matters in the organic material are solubilized by treating with an alkali to thereby give solubilized organic matters; an acid-fermentation step wherein the organic material containing the solubilized organic matters obtained from the solubilization step is subjected to acid fermentation with the use of an anaerobic microorganism; a division step wherein the material obtained from the acid-fermentation step is divided into solid components and liquid components; a step wherein the liquid components obtained from the division step is subjected to methane fermentation to thereby feed the digestion gas into the acid fermentation step, and ammonia formed in the acid-fermentation step is introduced into the digestion gas and then taken out from the acid-fermentation system to thereby eliminate ammonia; and a step wherein the solid components obtained from the division step are returned into the solubilization step.</p> |
