The grinding machine has a machine bed (1) for the workpiece clamping unit (W) and the trueing unit (A) for holding the trueing tool (21) for correct alignment. The trueing unit is connected to a supply unit (27) by means of which it can be inserted into a correctly aligned true position between the workpiece clamping unit and the grinding tool clamping unit (S). The trueing unit is then positioned and clamped in the true position by suitable means such as hardened prisms (32) and hardened balls (33) which can be brought into interaction. Cleaning means can be provided to clean at least a part of the positioning means by a cooling lubricant or air stream.
