A device and a method for sticking a substrate capable of pressingly adhering one substrate having liquid crystal material dripped thereon uniformly onto the other substrate, the method comprising the steps of dripping the liquid crystal material (3) on the first substrate (1) positioned horizontally by a positioning member (24) and placed on a substrate disposing plate (23), supporting the second substrate (2) on a substrate supporting member (25), closing a cover (30) having a rubber diaphragm (33) to form a first chamber (A) and a second chamber (B), and regulating a pressure difference between the pressures in the first and second chambers by utilizing a vacuum pump (60) so that the rubber diaphragm can press the second substrate downward.
