摘要 |
An electrically conductive heating element for furnaces is made by coating a silicon-containing element consisting of silicon carbide or a silicide, e.g. of Mo or Ti, with two layers of an electrically-conductive metal, e.g. Al or Al alloy, the first being a thin layer less than 1 mm. thick applied while the silicon-containing element is at room temperature, and the second thicker layer is applied in molten condition, e.g. at 600-1200 DEG C. The first layer may be applied by spraying, sputtering, vapour deposition, or electrolytically, and the second by casting on molten aluminium, or by embedding the pre-coated element in aluminium powder, granules, or shavings, which are then melted. |
