PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring device capable of constituting an automatic measuring device by connecting mutually a communication means normally furnished in the measuring device to a communication means normally furnished in a computer. SOLUTION: In this measuring device 1, the result measured by a measuring means 3 is displayed on a display means 8 by a control means 4. A first communication means 5 is a communication means for receiving control from the outside. A general purpose computer 9 controls the measuring device 1 by the first communication means 5. When accepting a communication means conversion request telegraphic message prescribed beforehand from the first communication means 5, the control means 4 transmits the telegraphic message to a second communication means 6, and transmits a control telegraphic message to external equipment connected to the second communication means 6 of the measuring device 1.
