PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compound having a low viscosity, imparting cured products having high refractive indices and suitable for optical materials such as plastic lenses and the like or radically polymerizable flame-retarding agents, provide a method for producing the same, obtain a composition for the plastic lenses and the plastic lenses obtained by curing the composition and provide a method for producing the plastic lenses. SOLUTION: This novel polybasic carboxylic acid ester is a novel aromatic ring- containing polybasic (meth)allyl ester derived from a polycarboxylic acid having >=3 valence such as 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid, 1,2,4-benzenetricarboxylic acid, 1,2,3-propanetricarboxylic acid, 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid or 1,2,3,4- butanetetracarboxylic acid or a polybasic carboxylic acid which is a (meth)allyl ester and the like having >=2 organic groups expressed by general formula (1) (wherein R<1> expresses independently H or CH3 ) and an organic group expressed by general formula (2) (wherein R<2> expresses the organic group derived from a compound having an aromatic ring and OH in the molecule) in the molecule. |
