<p>1,240,785. Refining lube oil stocks. TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP. 4 Nov., 1969 [8 Nov., 1968], No. 53903/69. Heading C5E. Atmospheric reduced crude oils are subjected to deasphalting, hydrogenation and vacuum distillation to produce light lube oil distillate fractions and vacuum residuum. The atmospheric residuum is deasphalted with propane, n-butane or isobatane at 100-300‹ F. and 200-600 p.s.i.g. The hydrogenation is carried out at 400-800‹ F. and 260-1000 p.s.i.g. using a catalyst, e.g. of Co and Mo or Ni and Mo on alumina. Vacuum distillation of the hydrogenated residuum yields SAE10 and 20 lube oil stocks, gas oils and a vacuum residuum which is deasphalted at 120-300‹ F. and 250-900 p.s.i.g. to provide SAE50 lube oil stock and cylinder stock. The lube oil distillate stocks are solvent extracted with furfural, phenol, dichloroethane, sulphur dioxide or N-methyl pyrollidone at 100-250‹ F. and are then dewaxed with a dewaxing agent comprising a mixture of acetone, methyl ethyl ketone or n-butyl ketone and benzene or toluene or by catalytic hydrogenation at 450-950‹ F. and 0-5000 p.s.i.g. using a catalyst of Pt or Pd on an acid-treated synthetic mordenite.</p> |
