HERBAL EXTRACT FOR PROMOTION OF RELEASE OF GROWTH HORMONE

PURPOSE: A herbal extract containing an Armeniacae Semen exhibiting high growth hormone releasing activity as an effective ingredient is provided. Therefore, the pharmaceutical composition and the health food containing the Armeniacae Semen extract can be effectively used in prophylaxis and treatment of various diseases related with growth hormone. CONSTITUTION: Armeniacae Semen is added with alcohol or a mixed solvent of alcohol and water selected from the group consisting of 10 to 100% ethyl alcohol, 10 to 100% methyl alcohol and spirit, hydrolyzed with a 0.1 to 2N acid or base solution, neutralized and then extracted with alcohol or a mixed solvent of alcohol and water. For an example, 0.1g of Armeniacae Semen is extracted in 1N HCl for 2hr, 2g of Armeniacae Semen extract is mixed with 0.8g of saccharin, 25.4g of sugar, 8.0g of glycerin, 0.04g of flavorings, 4.0g of ethanol, 0.4g of sorbic acid and a suitable amount of distilled water to produce syrups.
