PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gene encoding chicken LIF so as to stably supply, based on the genetic information, chicken-derived LIF protein and solve the problems about the creation of transgenic chicken having been unsolved so far, and to provide at practical levels the first transgenic form of livestock animal as well as experimental transgenic chickens by supplying the chicken LIF protein as a reagent for culturing chicken embryonic stem cells and embryonic reproductive cells for creating the transgenic chickens. SOLUTION: This chicken leukocyte migration inhibitory factor (LIF) having a specific amino acid sequence, the corresponding gene encoding a specific DNA sequence, and a method for producing the chicken LIF, are provided respectively. Further, a differentiation inhibitor for the differentiable cells of chicken consisting of the chicken LIF, a method for inhibiting the differentiation of chicken using the differentiation inhibitor, a method for culturing the differentiable cells for chicken, and to provide culture media including the cells, are also provided respectively. |
