PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor for decoding a color signal expressing a color image after applying irreversible compression to the color signal that enhances the reproducibility of a decoded image. SOLUTION: A parameter setting section 110 sets coded parameters P1, P2 having a different compression parameter corresponding to a compression characteristic of a color component to image data K and other image data Y, M, C as the coding parameter of a coding section 81. The coding section 81 uses the coding parameter P1 for the image data K and uses the coding parameter P2 for the other data to apply irreversible compression to the image data K, Y, M, C. A decoding section 89 uses the coding parameter P1 for the image data K and uses the coding parameter P2 for the other data to decode the coded image data. Since the proper compression parameter corresponding to the compression characteristic of the color component is set to the image data K and the other image data Y, M, C, the reproducibility of the decoded image can be enhanced.
