PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption of an analog/digital converter. SOLUTION: Differential amplifiers A1 , etc., amplify a voltage difference between reference voltage VR1 , etc., and an input analog signal voltage Ain and provide a noninverting/inverting output voltage. For example, a comparator circuit Crk compares each interpolation voltage resulting from interpolating a voltage between noninverting output voltages of differential amplifiers Ak and Ak+1 with each interpolation voltage resulting from interpolating a voltage between inverting output voltages of the differential amplifiers Ak and Ak+1 , and an encode circuit 105 outputs a digital data signal with a prescribed resolution. A control signal generating circuit Dk activates the comparator circuit Crk when the magnitude correlation of the noninverting/inverting output voltage of the differential amplifiers Ak and the differential amplifiers Ak+1 differs from each other.
