PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal incorporating a photographing function, which can provide a visually excellent picked-up image without spreading the change in lightness of the picked up image over a plurality of frames even when a frequency of a clock signal is switched, and to provide its luminance control method. SOLUTION: The portable terminal is provided with a radio telephone section 15, an imaging section 40, a clock signal generating section 101 that supplies a clock signal S21 to the imaging section 40 and the radio telephone section 15, and an LCD 12. When the frequency of the clock signal S21 is changed during imaging an object, the clock signal generating section 101 outputs switching information S102 to the imaging section 40. The imaging section 40 detects the switching information S102 to adjust the lightness of the pocked-up image on the basis of the switching information S102. Thus, propagation in the change in the lightness of the pocked-up image caused by the switching of the frequency of the clock signal AS21 over a plurality of frames can be prevented.
