PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for improving allocation of memory structures in a partitioned computer system. SOLUTION: This system and method are for logically partitioning shared memory structure between computer domains. Each domain is assigned a unique address space identifier. The unique address space identifier preferably has tag extension and index extension bits. Thus, the tag and index bits of a conventional local domain address can be extended with tag extension and index extension bits. Data entries in the shared memory structure is accessed by using an extended index value. Hits are judged by using an extended tag value.
