The invention relates to a method for ensuring a feedback concerning the magnitude of the braking action for the operator of a brake device when operating a brake device of this type in brake systems that are provided with at least two brake circuits, a first electro-pneumatic brake circuit and with a second, mechanical-pneumatic brake circuit. The brake device comprises a braking power sensor (8; 8.2) and an actuating device (5, 6; 6.2) that is coupled to the braking power sensor (8; 8.2). The first electro-pneumatic brake circuit (3; 3.2) comprises a control device (9; 9.2) and a pressure regulating module (10; 10.2), and the second pneumatic brake circuit (4; 4.2) comprises a mechanically actuatable service brake valve device (15; 15.2) whose piston element is coupled to the actuating device (6; 6.2) via a pedal force piston (48). The invention is characterized in that the pressure generated in the pressure regulating module (10; 10.2) located in the first electro-pneumatically actuatable brake circuit (3; 3.2) is used for producing a counterforce on the actuating device (6; 6.2).
