<p>A unit pixel (10) comprises current control elements (Tr2a to Tr2d) having control terminals and connected to a single EL element (11) and switching elements (Tr1a to Tr1d) provided for the respective current control elements and adapted for applying a digital image signal to the control terminals or cutting off the application depending on the state of a scanning signal. Each of the current control elements is controlled by the voltage of the digital image signal and brought to an off state in which it cut off the supply of a driving current to the EL element or an on state in which it supplies the driving current according to the voltage of the digital image signal. The current flowing through the EL element is the sum of the currents supplied from the on current control elements. By combining on current control elements, the current supplied to the EL element is set to a value according to the gradation.</p> |
