Dialkyl ethers of formula (I), where the individual substituents had the meaning defined in patent claims, having terminal carboxy or tetrazole groups lower Lp(a) and triglycerides, VLDL-cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol, and elevate HDL-cholesterol and other lipids, and are thereby useful for treating vascular diseases and diabetes mellitus.
