PURPOSE: Provided are a composition, pharmaceutical or agricultural composition and a seed using bioabsorbable, biocompatible polymeric synthetic wax which has a low melting point and a low viscosity to permit solvent free processing technology in production of a medical device and a composition. CONSTITUTION: The medical device includes a synthetic, bioabsorbable, biocompatible polymeric wax comprising the reaction product of a polybasic acid or derivative thereof, a fatty acid; and a polyol. The polymeric wax having a melting point less than about 70 deg. C, as determined by differential scanning calorimetry. The composition comprises an effective amount of a bioactive agent, and a wax comprising the reaction product of a polybasic acid or derivative thereof, a fatty acid and a polyol, the wax having a melting point less than about 70 deg. C, as determined by differential scanning calorimetry. The seed comprises a coating of a synthetic, bioabsorbable, biocompatible polymeric wax comprising the reaction product of a polybasic acid or derivative thereof, a fatty acid, and a polyol, the polymeric wax having a melting point less than about 70 deg. C, as determined by differential scanning calorimetry. |
