<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize conversion efficiency of nonlinear optical crystal by thermal equilibration. SOLUTION: The crystal stabilization apparatus consists of a heat generation system including crystal 8 to generate heat by the incidence of a laser, a heat storage system 6 to store generated heat generated by the heat generation system (heatsink) and a heat absorption system to absorb the stored heat of the heat storage system 6. The heat absorption system is provided with a heat carrier circulatory system 31 to introduce hot water being a heat carrier solution. The heat storage system is approximately held in a thermal equilibrium state by the generated heat of the heat generation system and the absorbed heat of the heat carrier circulatory system 31. The thermal equilibration optimizes the conversion efficiency of the nonlinear optical crystal. It is important that the thermal equilibrium is that between the crystal and its surrounding environment. Heat capacity of hot water is far larger than that of a gas such as air, and the hot water removes a large quantity of the heat of the heat storage system instantaneously and supplies a large quantity of heat instantaneously to the heat storage system, the hot water therefore can instantaneously return a thermal unbalanced state between the heat storage system and the heat generation system of the thermal equilibrium state, and prevents the deterioration of quality of the laser beam.</p> |
