PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording device which can effectively use various kinds of recording media without any restriction of thermal processing conditions and ink absorbing conditions. SOLUTION: When an ink absorbent holding layer and a latex layer record an image on a recording medium 303 formed in turn, the recording medium 303 is carried to a thermal processing means 138 with inversion of a carried direction from an arrow H direction to an arrow I direction by a flapper guide 130 and a switch back rollers 131 and 132 after the image is recorded in an image recording means 116 and is thermally processed by a thermal processing means 138. On the other hand, when the image is recorded in the recording medium 304 where only the ink absorbent holding layer is formed, the recording medium 304 is quickly delivered to an intermediated delivery tray 133 along the carrier direction of the arrow H direction without passing through the thermal processing means 138 after the image is recorded in the recording means 116.
