PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain oxide powder with a perovskite structure such as barium titanate powder which has a particle size of <=0.2 μm, has a high c/a axial ratio of >=1.0033, and exhibits sufficient dielectric properties. SOLUTION: Metallic hydroxide powder such as barium hydroxide powder and metallic oxide powder such as titanium oxide powder having a specific surface area of >=10 m<2> /g are mixed. This powdery mixture is subjected to heat treatment at 600 to 1,100 deg.C in an air atmosphere under the total pressure of 1×10<-2> Pa or lower to obtain the oxide powder with a perovskite structure such as barium titanate powder.
