PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop an optical module having an optical waveguide which can be manufactured at a relatively low cost while exhibiting a nearly non- diathermonic behavior. SOLUTION: The basic concept of this invention lies in the utilization of the advantage of temperature dependence different from that of a clad layer made of, for example, a polymer as compared with the waveguide itself without receiving the disadvantage by a secondary influence. The insertion of an additional coating layer between the clad layer and the waveguide according to this invention limits the overlap of a mode field existing in the waveguide on the clad layer described above. |
