PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic fiber having excellent solubility in an organism and having such heat resistance that it can be used stably even at 1,200 deg.C. SOLUTION: The inorganic fiber contains 60-74.9 wt.% of SiO2 , 25-39.9 wt.% of CaO, <=0.02 wt.% of Na2 O, <=0.05 wt.% of K2 O, <=0.15 wt.% of Fe2 O3 and <=0.10 wt.% of TiO2 . By reducing the contents of impurities of Na2 O, K2 O, TiO2 and Fe2 O3 , the precipitation of cristobalite crystal is suppressed, and further the growth of calcium silicate, which precipitates at a temperature lower than the precipitation temperature of cristobalite, is suppressed. This improves heat resistance and reduces influence on health.
