PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type liquid crystal display which can easily actualize excellent color balance at low cost and in which influence on environment is taken into consideration. SOLUTION: The projection type liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal panel (red) 211, a liquid crystal panel (green) 212, and a liquid crystal panel (blue) 213 provided corresponding to respective color light beams of red, green, and blue separated from the white light from a light source 201; and a dichroic prism 215 puts together color light beams modulated by those three liquid crystal panels and a projection lens 214 enlarges and projects the composite light. Here, the aperture rate of the liquid crystal panel (blue) 213 is larger than those of the liquid crystal panel (red) 211 and liquid crystal panel (green) 212. |
