PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus capable of forming a high-definition color image small in amount of displacement of scanning lines. SOLUTION: This color image forming apparatus is provided with a plurality of scanning optical devices 51-54 which are equipped with optical deflectors for deflecting a luminous flux, emitted by a light source means, and optical systems for gathering the optical flux, deflected by the optical deflector, into an image supporting body; photoconductor drums 1C, 1M, 1Y and 1BK are provided in such a manner as to correspond to the respective optical devices 51-54; the optical fluxes LC, LY, LY and LBK, emitted by the respective optical devices 51-54, are guided onto surfaces of the photoconductor drums 1C, 1M, 1Y and 1BK corresponding to the respective optical fluxes LC, LY, LY and LBK; scanning on the surfaces of the photoconductor drums 1C, 1M, 1Y and 1BK makes the images different in colored light formed on the surfaces of the photoconductor drums 1C, 1M, 1Y and 1BK; the images, which are formed on the surfaces of the photoconductor drums 1C, 1M, 1Y and 1BK, are fixed to a transfer material P in order to form the color image; and at least one of the optical devices 51-54 is different in constitution from the other optical devices 51-54.
