PURPOSE: A cylinder apparatus for a tandem axle of a large truck is provided to operate a fork firmly by supporting a rod in a housing and both sides of a lid, and to reduce the weight by manufacturing the housing with aluminum through die casting. CONSTITUTION: A cylinder device of a tandem axle for a large truck is composed of a housing(31) protecting parts; a lid(36) connected to the rear end of the housing; a rod(32) connected to the lid and the housing; a piston(33) moving along the rod in flowing air from an inlet; an elastic unit(34) returning the piston by applying restoring force; a fork(35) connected to the elastic unit to operate a differential lock clutch according to reciprocating motion of the piston; and an O-ring(37) and an X-ring(38) sealing the piston. The fork is operated accurately by supporting the rod in the housing and the lid, and the weight is reduced by manufacturing the housing through die casting.
