PURPOSE: A structure of a piston ring is provided to improve the performance of lubricating and sealing by forming the piston ring with two rings which differ in coefficient of thermal expansion. CONSTITUTION: A first ring(31) is inserted into a ring groove(11) formed at the upper part of a piston(10). A ring-shaped containing groove(32) is formed at the periphery of the first ring, and contains a wedge-shaped second ring(35). The section of the second ring and the containing groove are equal in size. The first ring and the second ring differ in coefficient of thermal expansion. The peripheral diameters of the first ring and the second ring are equal if the temperature of a combustion chamber is room temperature.
