[Also in Division G1] A safety ski binding comprises cables 4, 5 which are detachably connected by coupling members 1, 2 behind the heel. The cable ends 7 are resiliently supported in the coupling members by springs 8 and one cable end supports a release member 9 which, under abnormal tension in the cable engages a stop 25 whereby a stop on an adjustable rod 18 is moved to operate a spring-biased latch 14 to release the two members 1, 2. An indicator 27 is arranged to be moved by the release member 9 to indicate the amount of travel of the cable in order that the latch may be released. In an embodiment the indicator is formed by a rotatable cylinder having a helical groove engaged by a release rod on the cable end. In a further embodiment the release member comprises an adjustable screw engaging directly a spring- biased latch member.</p> |
