The invention relates to a holder for the wiper lip of a windshield wiper, which is joined in an articulated manner to an arm via which it is, in turn, connected to the output shaft of a gearing or of a motor. The holder (1) is made of an extruded elastic material whose one longitudinal side is provided with a slot (4) for accommodating the wiper lip. The arm is attached in an articulated manner to the holder on the opposite longitudinal side, specifically, in a manner that is centered with regard to the longitudinal extension thereof. A profile (7) that increases the lateral rigidity of the holder is placed on/or inside the elastic material(s) while running parallel to the slot (4). An elastic pretensioned strip (6), which runs parallel to the slot (4), is placed inside the elastic material, whereby the distance of said strip from the slot (4) is less than the distance from the profile (7) that increases the lateral rigidity. The invention also relates to the production of a holder of the aforementioned type.
