The sliding carbon contact has at least one metal part (5) in a carbon brush (2) extending into the contact from the contact surface (4), especially in the pressing direction and that wears as the contact is used. The metal part can be a continuous solid metal body or a metal braid whose length corresponds at least to the maximum wear region of the contact. AN Independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing an inventive device.
