The method for folding a car air bag (10) comprises attaching the bag by its open end (11) to a mounting (12). A cylindrical ram (18) is then lowered through this to push the opposite end of the bag into a housing (24). A lid (14) is then lowered on to the upper side of the bag to push it into the sleeve and compress it to the desired size. An Independent claim is included for a device for carrying out the method.
