The spectral evaluation method uses automatic measuring of a frequency spectrum (22,23) of the test object, displaying amplitude values for different frequency values, compared with an alarm characteristic (2) for the corresponding revs, with amplitude values which are adjusted in dependence on the operating parameters of the test object, to provide difference values used for evaluation of the test object.
