APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING POWER OF AIR CONDITIONER

PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for controlling power of air conditioner is provided to allow efficient use of power by controlling power consumption over the internet. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a watt-hour meter(10) serving as a power consumption detection unit for detecting power consumption and transmitting the detected result in a real time basis over an internet network(20); a server(60) serving as a storage unit for receiving the power consumption transmitted from the watt-hour meter, storing the received content, and transmitting the stored content over the internet upon existence of request from an external source; an internet interface unit(40) arranged in an air conditioner(30), which receives information on the power consumption transmitted from the server; and a controller(50) for controlling the current load on the basis of the power consumption input from the internet interface unit. The controller controls operating frequency of compressor so as to control the current load.
