PURPOSE: A linear motion apparatus of a tray for a microwave oven is provided to heat food evenly, and to make the best use of space by moving the rectangular tray up and down or to the right and the left. CONSTITUTION: A linear motion device of a tray(10) for a microwave oven is composed of the rectangular tray putting food on a cavity; a driving motor(M) generating rotational force; a converting unit converting rotation of the driving motor into linear reciprocating motion of the tray; and a roller assembly(26) having plural rollers(26a) installed in the lower part of the cavity and the tray to support linear reciprocating motion of the tray. The tray is moved up and down by forming convex parts in the lower part of the cavity. Food is heated evenly, and the space of the cavity is used efficiently with moving the tray up and down or to the right and the left.
