PURPOSE: A system for generating a caller melody and a method therefor are provided to transmit melody data to a receiving terminal using an alert with information and generate a new bell sound whenever connecting a call. CONSTITUTION: Melody data received from a user or melody service provider are registered in a melody server(410). If call request is detected(420), an authentication work is performed with reference to caller information stored in an HLR(Home Location Register) for confirming a client of a mobile company by a caller number(430). It is confirmed whether a caller is a subscriber registered in a melody server which provides a melody service using caller information(440,450). If the caller is the subscriber registered in the melody server, corresponding caller melody data are retrieved from a database of the melody server(460). The retrieved melody data are added in a data format of an alert with information, and the alert with information is transmitted to a receiving terminal(480).
