PURPOSE: A medical device with a position sensor having accuracy at high temperatures is provided to reduce the overall costs of the medical procedure and to avoid having to use separate temperature monitors or temperature sensors. CONSTITUTION: A medical device with a position sensor comprises a medical device having a body, a position sensor(10) attached to the body. The position sensor includes a core(12) made of a Wiegand effect material, and a winding circumferentially positioned around the core. The position sensor has an outer diameter of approximately 0.4mm and is used in a medical device having an outer diameter of approximately 0.67mm.
