The invention relates to a shoe polish composition and to a process for manufacturing the same from the waste resulting from the chemical cleaning of woollen textiles, consisting of 5 ... 10 parts by weight of paraffin, 40 ... 60 parts by weight of white spirit. The process for obtaining the shoe polish composition consists in homogenizing the fat materials: waste which contains 60 ... 80 % of black wool fat and paraffin at a temperature ranging from 80 to 90 degree C., mixing with a solvent at a temperature ranging from 40 to 50 degree C, followed by pouring into packing boxes. According to the invention, the shoe polish composition is used for protecting and maintaining the leather footwear, providing an adequate glass, maintaining the leather elasticity through the emollient properties of the wool fat and also increased water resisting qualities. These advantages permit the use of the shoe polish for military footwear during the preservation period as well as for protecting the footwear used in wet environments.
