摘要	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device, by which a pinhole having optimum shape and accurately reflecting a beam can be made automatically at the optimum position, even if there is optical axis deviation. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal unit 5 consists of a liquid crystal layer 11, a transparent substrate 12 and a polarizer 13. A thermotropic liquid crystal is used as the liquid crystal of the layer 11, and a glass substrate, for example, is used as the substrate 12. The layer 11 is interposed between two substrates 12. The polarizer 13 is arranged on the side of a photodetector.
